This small neighborhood is located on the northern tip of Manhattan with lush greenery for it’s residents to enjoy. It’s surrounded by the Harlem River to the east and the Hudson River to the west so many people enjoy the scenic river views outside of their apartments. The oldest building there is the Dyckman House which is a farmhouse that was built in 1765.
When it was settled it was mostly an irish neighborhood, but now it’s mainly hispanic with majority of people are from Dominican descent. Famed basketball great, Kareen Adult Jaber grew up in this area, as did Bess Houdini in the 40’s after her illusionist husband died, Harry Houdini. She regularly held seances to conjure up his presence after he passed.
